Educational Partners

Windrose is proud to provide a variety of supports to transition-aged youth — that is: young people with disabilities who are transitioning from high school to “whatever comes next.” For some students, that means joining the world of work. For others, it means finding post-secondary opportunities that will help them meet their long-term career goals.

We provide Supported Employment consultations in coordination with Community Work Transition Programs at Louisville-area high schools, and we have proudly partnered with Ahrens Educational Resource Center since 2022 in order to provide on-going employment support to several of their graduates.

New for the 2025-26 school year, we are excited to also be partnering with Maryhurst to provide on-site Pre-Employment Transition Services (Pre-ETS) to their student-residents!

We have supported dozens of Louisville youth from Doss, Ballard, Seneca, Fern Creek and other JCPS high schools as well as private high schools like Valiant Christian and Academy for Individual Excellence — as well as students attending JCTC, IU Southeast, and Bellarmine. We’ve also worked with students in Oldham and Shelby Counties! In most of these cases, the schools were unable to provide these services as part of their regular school day, so Windrose worked 1-on-1 with students after school hours — making us an invisible (but invaluable) resource for our local schools and the students they service.

Interested in learning how Windrose might support students at your school?

Windrose understands that many local high schools are struggling to provide Pre-ETS services to their students. There isn’t enough time in the academic day, nor enough staff in the building to deliver these federally-mandated services. That puts schools in a tough spot.
